Residential Alterations & Additions
This was an alterations and additions project to an existing terrace house with a planning permit already in place. Padarc were engaged to reconfigure the interior spaces and undertake interior design, selection of materials, fixtures and finishes and revised documentation. Domicile was engaged to undertake construction. The rear additions included a bathroom, a laundry under the stair and an open plan kitchen, meals and living area opening onto a ground floor courtyard, doubling as a single car space. The new second storey includes a bedroom with ensuite and a study that opens onto an external terrace. At less than 5m wide, the layout of spaces was highly important and required clever compact design to ensure the house feels as spacious as possible. The provision of natural light to the centre of the long narrow terrace building was achieved via a light court and kitchen skylights. Domicile’s expertise on constricted inner urban sites was imperative to ensuring the delivery of this project with a tight budget and timeframe.
